ELIGIBILITY

The Sir Winston Churchill Alumni Blue and Gold Award is automatically open to
all graduating students who will be attending a recognized post-secondary
establishment in September following their graduation.  There is no application
process.  All are given equal consideration, but there are eligibility
requirements outlined in the “process for distribution” section below.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Presented to graduating students who have contributed significantly to life at
Sir Winston Churchill through their extra-curricular involvement and their
academic achievement.  Recipients must embody at least one characteristic of
“SPIRIT”: Sincerity, Perseverance, Involvement, Responsibility, Integrity, and
Tolerance.

PROCESS FOR SCHOLARSHIP DISTRIBUTION

The recipient of each Sir Winston Churchill Alumni Blue and Gold Award will be
announced in the June graduation program.   To ensure that the funds are used
for their intended purpose, recipients will receive a letter which outlines the
protocol for recipients to follow.  Students will be required to provide
confirmation of enrollment at an accredited post-secondary institution for the
following September.  Students must return the requested documentation to the
Alumni Association by the end of September of the academic year following their
graduation in order for the payment to be issued by the treasurer after the Fall
Alumni Association meeting.

HOW THE AWARDS ARE ADVERTISED

The graduation selection committee uses The Sir Winston Churchill Alumni Blue
and Gold Award criteria as listed above to nominate potential recipients.  The
committee will narrow down the potential recipients to 6 deserving members.  The
name of each recipient is recorded in the Program distributed at the June
graduation.

COMPOSITION OF SELECTION COMMITTEE

The Sir Winston Churchill Awards Committee consists of a diverse group of staff
members representing the various departments, teams, and clubs of the school.
The committee is in a position to ensure that all aspects of the “SPIRIT”
criteria are considered when selecting deserving students.  One of the Board of
Directors of the Alumni Association will be part of the selection committee for
this award.

AMOUNT PER AWARD

At this time, 6 awards of $200 are given to graduating students each year.  As
the fund grows, the Alumni Association will assess the feasibility of both
increasing the dollar amount attributed to each recipient as well as increasing
the number of scholarships that are awarded each year in accordance with the
disbursement requirements.
